MEMBER NEWS: AM Sci Tech completes hat-trick of office lettings totalling 7,000 sq ft at Aberdeen Energy & Innovation Parks

AM Sci Tech, a subsidiary of Hurstwood Holdings, the new owners of Aberdeen Energy and Innovation Parks, has recently completed a hat-trick of significant deals across the parks, totalling approximately 7,000 sq ft.

The agreements include the expansion of existing occupier Kaseum Technology, as well as new leases with Italmatch Chemicals and WorkNest.

AM Sci Tech has implemented a proactive approach to letting space, with confidence there is another circa 20,000 sq ft in new deals and lease renewals. This follows a reduction in headline rents of up to 35% to attract new occupier interest.

Kaseum Technology, a longstanding tenant specialising in the design, development, and manufacture of downhole tools, has secured an additional 1,554 sq ft unit at the Energy Development Centre, augmenting its current occupancy of four units.

This expansion, representing a substantial increase of over 20%, brings Kaseum’s total floorspace to 6,254 sq ft.

Commenting on the expansion, Andy Elrick, Operations Director of Kaseum said: “We were extremely satisfied with the efficient facilitation provided by the landlord and parks’ management team. The Energy Development Centre suits our business perfectly, and when we needed more space, we were delighted that it could be facilitated quickly and efficiently. Our business is continually developing and being able to do this at the same location and building has brought significant business benefits for us.”

Italmatch Chemicals, a leading developer and supplier of chemical solutions for the energy industry, has agreed to let Units 5-7 at the Technology Centre on a 5-year lease. The units extend to 4,000 sq ft.

Relocating from a previous base in Ellon, the new premises offer office space for up to 12 people and lab space for 4 people, further enhancing the company’s operational capabilities.

WorkNest, a powerhouse of employment law, HR and health and safety support services has agreed a 3-year lease on Unit F10 at the Enterprise Centre. The unit extends to 1,235 sq ft.

The company works closely with organisations nationwide to provide high-quality, pragmatic, and professional advice and support. Local clients who have benefited from the service include TWMA, Hutcheon Services and Aberdeen Science Centre. With a head office in Chester, the company also has Scottish bases in Glasgow and Edinburgh, along with other offices in Gateshead, Horsham, Kettering and London. WorkNest’s Aberdeen base will concentrate on projects in the North East of Scotland and will be home to 14 members of staff.

Catherine Wilson, Head of Team at WorkNest said: “Demand for our services has been growing steadily over the past couple of years across the UK. We are delighted to secure our new Aberdeen location and we look forward to continuing to grow and develop the business from the Energy Park. “The new office provides the perfect location and has everything we need to provide our team with a positive working environment together.”

Aberdeen Energy & Innovation Park Estates Manager, Cherry Paton added: “Concluding these deals marks a fantastic start for the new park owner. It is pleasing to see two new occupiers, as well as a long-standing occupier expanding.

“Kaseum has been based here for 6 years, during which we’ve provided quality flexible space and fostered opportunities for growth and development.”

The Parks offer a varied mix of office solutions, including leased offices, serviced offices and coworking space, catering to the needs of occupiers of all sizes. They are conveniently located approximately three miles north of Aberdeen city centre and close to the Third Don Crossing.

Matt Park, Associate Director at Knight Frank said: “Occupiers are demanding the highest quality workspace  and the Energy and Innovation Parks offer a great solution that provides an efficient and flexible office within a high-spec environment in a prime location.”

Knight Frank and Ryden are joint agents for Aberdeen Energy & Innovation Parks.

AREG is the original energy transition organisation, working on behalf of members to empower the energy supply chain and champion its expertise. Please get in touch if you have any questions or would like to find out more about membership.

AREG has played an important role in the growth of Scotland’s renewable energy sector, engaging the supply chain and developing the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre. However, we are only at the very beginning of the transition that AREG was established to both lead and support so there are still opportunities for companies to get into the constantly evolving renewables supply chain. We look forward to continuing our work together as renewables builds on its place as Scotland’s main source of power, and as we seek to deliver real change in the crucial areas of heat and transport.

Scottish Renewables

Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce has worked closely with AREG since its formation. The recent progress in the developments of offshore wind projects by Equinor and Vattenfall are as a result of the work of the group over many years. The north-east is known as the oil and gas capital of Europe. At the Chamber, we believe the region must evolve its position to being recognised as the energy capital. Whilst hydrocarbons will continue to be essential in driving our economy for years to come, the generation of renewable resources will play an increasingly important role in providing cost-effective power, innovative development and economic growth.

Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce

The enthusiasm and dedication of the early group that would become AREG was fundamental in us choosing to launch All-Energy in Aberdeen. The first tiny show was held in 2001, and AREG’s Chairman at the time, Jeremy Cresswell, played such an active role that I often describe him in terms such as All-Energy’s ‘midwife’. All-Energy is now the UK’s largest renewable and low carbon energy exhibition and conference in terms of number of attendees, space booked, and number of exhibiting companies. As AREG became firmly established, their presence and support for the event grew spectacularly over the years. We thank them most sincerely for their invaluable input.

Vattenfall has forged a strong working relationship with AREG through the development of the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre. AREG has worked tirelessly on behalf of the North East and it can take enormous credit for the growth of sustainable energy in the region and the path it has cleared for the region to capture further investment.

Aberdeen City and Shire is emerging as a key location for renewables by successfully transferring its world-class oil and gas expertise into the sector and AREG has done much to advance this through a broad range of initiatives. It has acted as a catalyst in driving further investment in the local economy by engaging with companies, Government, public bodies and existing projects and we have been pleased to support their efforts. Scottish Enterprise will continue to engage with AREG as we increase Scotland’s use of renewable energy.
