Established in 2003, Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group (AREG) is the original energy transition organisation, helping our network of members to access opportunities that accelerate the development and use of renewable energy whilst championing the sector.

AREG plays a key role in accelerating the transition to renewable energy by enabling our network of members to access opportunities in the UK and overseas.

We do this by connecting the supply chain with developers and project owners, sharing market insights on new developments, policies, and funding opportunities with our membership, championing our members and the renewable energy sector, and promoting collaboration across our 270+ membership community.

A proven track record

Our growth over the past 20 years can be attributed to our track record of delivering renewable energy initiatives such as the development and delivery of the EOWDC Aberdeen Bay Wind Farm, supporting the Vattenfall Unlock Your Future Fund, participating in strategic committees such as the North East Scotland Hydrogen Ambition (NESH2A), Steering Committee, and Aberdeen City’s Net Zero Committee, as well as collaborating with partner organisations to promote information sharing, skills development, and networking.

AREG has played an important role in the growth of Scotland’s renewable energy sector, engaging the supply chain and developing the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre. Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce has worked closely with AREG since its formation. The recent progress in the developments of offshore wind projects by Equinor and Vattenfall are as a result of the work of the group over many years. The enthusiasm and dedication of the early group that would become AREG was fundamental in us choosing to launch All-Energy in Aberdeen. The first tiny show was held in 2001, and AREG’s Chairman at the time, Jeremy Cresswell, played such an active role that I often describe him in terms such as All-Energy’s ‘midwife’.
